My car seems to have a stalish smell inside, cant find it any where, did an aircon spray thing but it seems to be still there. I thought the carbon filter was done when I bought it...could that be the cause if it wasnt changed..any ideas?

How long have you had the car for?

I'm assuming you thoroughly checked it when you bought it but I came across a few that had flood damage when i was looking that wasn't declared throught the insurance (no HPI record).

I'm sure it it isn't that but would be worth a check under the boot carpet to see if there are any water marks just so you can rule that out.

Since xmas, bought from main dealer, just wondered if the soft tops get whiffy???

Seems to come through vents but cant be 100% about it

I have treated the seats which made a difference to the interior smell.

It shouldn't make any difference unless the soft top is leaking somewhere - they are normally pretty watertight.

Is the smell there constantly or does it change according to the weather?

Is the smell there all the time? As you say it it might be coming from the vents by which i assume the heater vents,it could be the air conditioning. Mine gives off a stale smell every now and again especially if the air con hasnt been used in a while.

Think it's the aircon that needs to be profesionally cleaned out - if you don't use it, then mildew and other not very nice things can start to grow in the stale water in the tubes. Morale: Use the aircon regularly!
