I'm sure my grammar (and spelling of grammar) have improved over the years and my general knowledge has also benefited from browsing these threads.

So do you think PH has made you brighter or know more stuff?

no.

obviously this depends on how intelligent (though I think what you might mean is "does PH make you more articulate?") you are to start with. I would consider myself slightly cleverer than the average PHer... so although I don't get a personal benefit from PHing I am happy to help all you thickos out.

Oh dear.

I think that you meant to ask "Does PH make you more clever?".

The answer is clearly "No".

It doesn't make us more intelligent per se, BUT it does keep the old grey matter going as it isn't quite so "dumbed down" as many websites are, and in the main posts are in English instead of whatever passes for English on many websites that look to me like I need an Enigma machine to decipher.

I certainly get a lot of my news information from this site, because I cannot bear to watch the BBC news anymore.

wittier putdowns like?

"... oxo tower?"

etc.

I'd hate to know what your less witty putdowns were

Before - Genius.

Now - Genius + 'mental' + 335D (mapped) + OXO + MX5

So no, not really.

Well, judging by how stupid some of the newbies first posts are, compared to the PH stalwarts, I'd say that spending time on PH is an education in itself! hehe

I'd say it's taught me a fair bit. Mainly about some pretty geeky topics though!
