Catalytic converter

When i bought the Tuscan it had de-cat pipes need to refit the catsjust wondered where the plates welded to the cats face is it to deflect heat from the chassis or the cats which way do thge face ? Thanks in advance

Plates should be facing towards the chassis. Massive heat comes from the catalysts and it will burn off the paint from the chassis.

Ron thanks for that i thought that would be the case but better to check i have painted the chassis in that area with an alumium/ceramic paint as well as the normal heat reflective material
