Bent insulating gasket

I have just ordered an RV8 plenum insulating gasket (in one of the packages SC Power sell).

The gasket has been sent sandwiched between 2 boards to protect it, but has obviously slipped out of the side in transit - and now has a substantial crease running the length of it.

Will a bent gasket seal properly - or should I see if SC Power will change it..?

These gaskets can look crinkley and its the nature of the material. When bolted down the surface adopts a perfectly flat smooth finish and a perfect seal. Do not apply any form of sealant to the surfaces as the gasket is self sealing.

Just to be absolutely clear - this is not "crinkly", this has been properly bent into a flattened "s" shape...

Where it has protruded from the protective sandwich, it has been pressed against and one edge totally shifted in alignment by about 1 cm.

So if you look *along* it flat from end-to-end, then instead of seeing this:

it looks like this:

(please ignore the fullstops, the spaces I was using to format the gap kept being deleted)

and this runs along the whole length of it....

The creases are *properly* embedded into it, its definitely permanent deep creases, not just a temporary bend...

Your thoughts..?

I don't know about this but I think I would be trying to change it for a flat one 'just in case'. SC Power should be able to get the money from it from the courier if they bent it in transit?

Send it back to SC Dom with riginal packaging, they will replace it directly.

Have just spoken to Colin, and he didn't even query it - said he would send another out tomorrow. Top guy!

Fantastic service from SC Power - companies being judged by their customer service etc - I shall certainly be using them again...
