Morning all...
This might be a bit dull but can anybody tell me what are the best cleaning products to use (washing/waxing/wheels/interior/etc etc)?? Maybe I'm being a bit over the top (I've only had it a few days!!) but I noticed it was looking a bit grubby as I drove about this morning
Cheers, AL.

Avoid tyre black/paint unless your tyres are really scuffed on the sidewalls. A good scrub with a brush/sponge should get them looking nice.

Don't use Armorall on the interior - it will look far too shiney - best use a nice fabric cleaner such as Decosol to remove ingrained dirt, then a leather conditioner as already mentioned.

Any decent wax will do the job on the exterior, after a decent wash with car wash solution (not washing up liquid). Depending on colour/condition of your motor you may want to use a paint cleaning preparation before waxing (look on Autoglym/Meguiars etc websites for info).

Best not use a jet wash unless you're careful where you direct the water - things like windscreen seals can let water in and give you that nasty milky screen effect in the corners. Avoid carwashes at all costs (that goes for any car).

Get a leather to dry the car off with too - get rid of streakey marks (ooer).

Also a chrome cleaner to clean up the tailpipes is a nice finishing touch.

Enjoy!

any semi-decent wash wax is ok. turtle wax maybe?

give it a really good chamois, and dunk the cloth in warm water, wring it out then wipe the car. do this a few times when you're drying the car.

zymol is the best wax because it's not a polish, it's just a wax. polishes take off tiny layers of paint and they are all mildly abrasive. plus zymol smells of bananas!!

the best polish, is Auto Glym super resin. you should polish the car cos it takes off faded paint but just not too often.

wynns' wheel cleaner is good at taking off gunk but you need to brush it once you've sprayed it to get all the dirt off. make sure you wash the wheels well and wash the arches as this suff is quite strong and could damage paint.

use auto glym glass polish or liquid glass cleaner. simoniz leather care is good.

I was afraid nobody had heard of Lux soap flakes - fortunately you did - ha!

So, you now deserve a serious answer. Basic principles - Two things necessary to get a very shiny car, 1 - the surface has to be flat - very flat in fact like glass, to give reflection. This is in fact "Polishing". 2 - it needs protection and depth of shine in the form of a wax (or silicone) coating. This is waxing or wax polishing. Depending how bad it is you may need to flatten the paint first or it may just need livening up (paintwork can also get contaminated). Try a colour resorer like Auto Glym first - then their Silicone Resin Polish. This is a big subject and everybody has their own ideas. Drop "pies" a note - his body is in superb condition. The car that is!

For the leather Gliptone liquid leather, for the vinyl, try turtle wax 'dry touch' it gives a nice natural lustre and its not sticky.

thanks all...paintwork is not too bad so will give some of these ideas a try and see how I get on.

The recommendation about emailing some bloke called "pies" about his "body" did worry me slightly though....possibly the dodgiest tip I have seen on these pages!!
