Due to the terminal death of my cherished engine (the poor thing had eight hard years) I am interested in a new engine- please email me if you have something over 500bhp to offer

Thanks

There are some for sale in the classifieds, especially an AS engine, 383ci for 535 bhp...

I will have mine for sale too (the same engine from AS plus Getrag 6 speed gearbox, complete
exhaust system, accusump, clutch, etc...). I hope £4,500 for the engine (under 6500 miles).

would a tuned brand new LS3 be of any interest? it should make a real 550-580bhp on the dyno.

Head removed and failure due to broken valve. Engine beyond repair other than stripping for bits (sump etc)

I think I did a good job of killing it!

I like to see a job well done.

Removes all doubt about the next step.....weigh it in and start again.

However, I do feel your pain.

I can't complain as the engine was built in 2000 and then rebuilt in 2005 with some performance add ons. It has done around 20,000 miles and over 50 vmax runs. Shame as it had just had the MOT and was going fine upto the point it detonated!

So what should i do next, SBC or LS but i want the car for the summer and the SBC is the easy option.

yep the sbc is the easier option but imo it makes no sense... the LS gives 25mpg plus on a run, no spitting and farting around town, instant throttle response, increased re sale value, quieter, cooler, no leaks, it does not need rebuilding every 5 minutes etc etc

yep i will shut up!!!

oh one last thing, ive driven 6 different SBC powered cars, ive also driven LS2 LS3 LS7 powered Ultimas and put it this way i could never go back to a SBC!!

No conection, just went looking hear as there is normally something good. Did find a funny car engine, but didnt think it was bing to helpful, so you will have to do with that.

Late to this Guy (prompted by the group buy reply). I missed it at the time as I was in stuck in the US due to the ash could!

Anyway, you did a proper job there!

If it were me (and given your other steed), you'd be mad to go SBC. Whilst the LS may take longer to sort, think of it as a good opportunity to tinker. You can always use the R8 over the summer smile
