Ford Fiesta 'R' Reg Power Steering Pipe
Discussion
Hi Guys,
I had blown the engine on my 1.25 litre 'R' reg Ford Fiesta a few weeks back. A piston rod decided to make a hasty exit through the side of the block! Apparently a common fault.
I've fitted a second hand engine but managed to snap the metal pipe that runs from the power steering pump to the steering rack and because of the high pressure, a rubber hose and jubilee clips won't cut it.
Does anybody know where I can get one of these reasonably cheap? The local Ford dealer wanted £110, which I refuse to pay. I've tried the local scrap yard, but they don't have any Fiesta's of the same year.
Any ideas?
Thanks

I had to do the same sort of thing on my OH's 306. Took the pipe to a hydraulic company who repaired it. My hose was metal-rubber-metal ie it had a reinforced rubber centre bit both both ends were metal. I had to cut the rubber pipe to get it out. The guy removed all the rubber bit, replaced it but also put in a new connection in the middle so I could install it in 2 pieces. Did all this for £30 cash.I had blown the engine on my 1.25 litre 'R' reg Ford Fiesta a few weeks back. A piston rod decided to make a hasty exit through the side of the block! I would just get in touch with any company like this. Any industrial estate should have at least one.
