325 tdi HELP !!

oK I have had this problem for ages now and just put up with it ! the car cuts out occasionaly... I had diagnostic done all ok ... now the fule is ok system fine , car pulls like a train , bit of smoke on start up but with 180000 mile it is accepted ... now I think it is electrical because I can save it from cutting out by ...

1, as soon as the car dies and I mean if you dipped the clutch it would litraly stop as if you switched the ignition off, if you are in gear rolling allong nothing happens if you still insist in depressinf the accelarator peddal it will just loose speed then the yellow ingector light comes on as you come to a halt.

2. as it happens if you feather the throttal like take your foot off push it down lightly and back again it picks back up and all is fine until it happens again .. its amasing how you get use to instantly doing this and the passinger will never know you have a problem .

3. drop it down a gear and bank back to normal


This is bugging me and without spendinf a small fortune in sending it to bmw I would realy appreciate your input ..

I would diagnose it as the accelarator pedal are these electronic ?

was done by a friend of a friend it was a black plastic type hand held display about the sise of a lap top with updated bmw software .... supposingly

I guess this is a rare problem and lack of technical boffins on here these days

My 325tds used to cut out occasionally, although it was better after I had the injectors refurbed. I put it down to a bit of air getting into the fuel lines. Try replacing the spill off pipes linking each injector, should only cost a fiver for a length of pipe from your local motor factors.

Get a proper diagnoses done by a proper kit.

Had diognostic done with latest BMW teck and car cuts out because low fuel pressure bloke reccons the pipes between the injectors are leaking and gave me some new pipe so will put that on my list of things to do

There was a common fault on the Omega's with the same engine the engine loom at the mani plug in the bay becomes faulty with vibration, worth investigating

yer that was the 1st thing on my list thing was bad starting as the diesel was running back to the tank ! cured this by fitting a 1 way valve , now it all comes into the picture I will change those lines ..
