System to kill all electrics in the event of crash

Has anybody installed a system to do this? pretty much all production cars have a resettable system now. Think high pressure fuel pumps spraying petrol all over sparking electrics.

I had several Maserati's they had a very simple switch hidden in the boot for this purpose.

Sent me a mail, and I'll tell you where to find it. (I used it too to immobilize the car)

If you are running an ECU then it most likely does not activate the pump unless it detects the engine turning over at a minimum of cranking revs.

Most production cars have an inertia switch. In many cases fitted vertically in or on the front nearside door post. Usually black with a red reset button. These can be set of if you jack one end of the car up high.

Linking ignition and fuel pump supply feed to oil pressure switch (via relay) is a common system. Needs a bypass from the ignition switch for starting

I am fitting a Battery relay and a inertia switch with an auxiliary circuit to kill ignition. Just wondered if anybody had done it as wiring was giving me a headache. I think I have it sorted now.

Id be carefull fitting an inertia switch in an Ultima as the extreme cornering,braking and acceleration you might find it will go off when you don't want to and be more dangerous than its worth. I still get under full throttle conditions and a bump in the road a jurk or harsh judder when I hit the bump and it would set off an inertia switch if fitted .

Hi Dom. That is a worry. The switch that I currently have can be triggered by shaking it!!!! I understand that they are available to withstand up to 30g though.

Race cars use the same system but with switches at various points around the outside of the car for the marshalls to operate. Agreed that too sensitive a switch could prove embarrassing and dangerous. I am trying to contact the UK supplier but the phone & email does not work hmm ominous???
