watch straps etc
Discussion
So chaps, having been a lurker for a while on this part of the forum, i decided to bite the bullet and buy a couple more special watches (well special for me) to add to old collection (which is made up entirely of 4 standard everyday watches that i have worn on and off over the years-incidently none of which ive worn for at least 6 months).
well my watches have finally turned up but Im not really feeling the straps to be honest,so im looking for some replacements already lol....
i like the look and snug feel of a nato strap, but as the original strap is 24 mm wide, i am having issues finding a PVD nato strap thats wide enough to fit properly ( i wanted a PVD one as the watch case is black too). Have you guys got any suggestions?
if that doesnt work, i would be very happy with an animal type velcro strap, but again i am having difficulty finding one wide enough (24mm)... any advice would be appreciated.....
Finally is there anyway to remove the original straps without cutting them?
thanks for any advice

Straps are usually held on with spring bars. Get a fine screwdriver (because I'm assuming you don't have a spring bar tool) and, taking care not to scratch anything, get it between the edge of the strap and the lug on the case. You should find a couple of small ridges there. Use the screwdriver against one of these ridges to compress the spring bar (it concertinas into itself), whilst gently pulling the strap, and it should come away. Reuse the spring bar on a new strap if necessary (they don't go through a Nato strap - that feeds over them).
Depending on the watch, your strap might be held on by screws through hollow tubes, which are accessible from the outside of the lugs, again, with a suitable screwdriver.
I get my Natos off eBay. There's a seller there who charges about £6.75 for them, and I've always been happy with them. Dunno about 24mm though; I have 20's and 22's.

Yep.
Can't upload from where I am, but www.watch-band-center.de will sell you straps from Meyhoffer, Hirsch or Kuki, and PVD buckles too Standard (which will probably fit the above) and Pan style (which, because of the tang, may not)
