We had a window seat.

My starter - Oeuf mollet/pané, champignons et garniture d’une meurette - was [Winner mode] absolutely HISTORIC [/Winner mode].

Several other meals spring to mind as well but this was not just the best this year but possibly the best in the last 18 months.

Had the tasting menu and took 2 bottles with me. 1996 Petaluma Reisling and 1982 Chateau Latour.

Food, service, wine and company were everything you could hope for.

The Fat Duck, Bray, food and service were out of this world, although i found the atmosphere a little stifled...

Easy. A variety of starters/small plates followed by the Creekstone Rib Eye steak and a few sides, accompanied by an excellent Chianti. Excellent service, atmosphere, and company. The occasion was to see my friend off, he's touring the US with his band for the next 9 months.

Doing the Burger King £1 double cheese burger challenge as a kid. About 2 hours later we all left feeling rather ill, but having settled scores.

Note memorable. Not best. Easily the most memorable.

Chateau in Aix-en-Provence. Not the poshest place I have ever been too - certainly not the most expensive and not the most daring of menus. I had.

Pate de Foie Gras
Ribeye Steak with Frittes, Mushrooms and Toms
Rasberry Creme Brulee.

It was utterly and completely perfect in every single way.

I did the tasting menu here http://www.im-schiffchen.com/ which was pretty amazing in terms of a spectacle and event - I think it was about 16 courses. But none of it wa sas tasty as French pate, steak and chips and pud.

Easy, for a number of reasons (not all of them good).

Nobu. The ex Mr MC took me there for my birthday, a few years ago now.

We had the tasting menu, and as you can imagine the food was exquisite and beautifully presented in a succession of little courses:

Salmon sashimi
Seared tuna
Seared beef
Black cod
Sushi
Fruit salad

However it was evident (to me at least) that things were on the way out between us, since the only topic of conversation raised by the now ex Mr MC was "How's your black cod?"

I'd love to get a bill like that. I could never pay it, but the adrenalin rush when they looked at me expecting payment would be pretty fun.

What year was the tache romanee? I've seen a '03 for $6000 before, and an '85 for about $3,500

Probably the best food we've had in the UK - if not ever. We had items from the Select menu. The rabbit and the tikka frog legs were superb.

The Cheese to Share (Fondant, Rarebit, Crotin, Brie & Truffle) which came with honey infused with truffle - is simply the best way to end a meal we've experienced.

We had a good old chat with the chef afterwards as well, top bloke.

Gordon Ramsay in New York (The London)

Exceptional food and service. The first time we had done a real top end place and great value due to the exchange rate at the time. Followed it up by hailing a cab then going to the Rainbow Room bar at the top of the Rockafella center and looking out on the NY skyline whilst drinking a Martini.

Sirocco in Bangkok was awesome, good food, and crazy views. (but did get told off for taking a photo)


Felix in HK, probably the best food i've ever had, and we were lucky enough to have a table against the window, over looking the Harbour.

Flambee Restaurant in Prague, as there was only about 5 or 6 tables, and it was set in a Cave, tres romantic.
