Holidaying outside the Euro zone

I'm looking for some ideas of where to go outside of the Euro zone at the end of August/start of September. Looking to get some good value, near the sea/a beach and must have at least a little bit of culture nearby. I was looking at Zadar in Croatia but the hotels seem to be very expensive for what you're getting??? Any other ideas? Must be able to fly there from Glasgow or Edinburgh.
