Wow !

The two aspects of 911's in action, in extremis !

One oversteers into the bank, while another understeers.

Castle Combe I believe - spotted that short runoff around paddock a mile off !

Gulp. Yes I recognise that corner. If the car lets go you've got no chance...and once on the grass...ouch ouch ouch.

I've got a Track Day at Castle Combe coming up in April. Think I'll be very careful on that corner...

No wonder they've put more catch fencing in there!

Ouch.

I've always been a bit of a wimp on that corner... Perhaps I'm not such a fool after all.

Ta for the link.

The yellow and blue 911 might want to check his Circuit Guide for the braking points. I'm not sure an F1 car could have taken the bend at the speed he was going.

Also.....gotta love the way the grey haired chap with the camera hangs on in there until the last second to get his photograph before he makes a run for it. Dedicated!

Haha - was just looking around their site and found this page. Check out the first picture of an M5 - I think it may be a photoshop job ... The original is here.

Add some black and change the plate . . . That seems to be a legal way of photoshopping?!

The photographer (John Gaisford) in the video has been sitting there for years - a few weeks before / after these Porsches hit the bank, an F40 got itself into a fireball in the same place (Camp Corner).

It's a shame that the video doesn't show how high one of them flew after it's initial hit. We did suggest that the driver get an altimeter installed alongside his rev counter

...a bit messy. Surprised that the photographer has lived to age he is...or is the grey hair a symptom orf his occupation and is infact in his mid thirties

Shame the video's been speeded up. Either that or the marsha's on steroids to wave the flag that fast.

pretty hilarious, but also sad too

I knew there was a reason I shouldn't buy a 911, and now I have two (uncontrollable understeer, uncontrollable oversteer)

:-)

The footage is indeed from camp corner.

The yellow car is driven by one of the Jones brothers, I think Godfrey, the other car by Pete Chambers. What actually happened was that Pete was tapped in the back by his team mate, yes that`s right team mate! and the two of them ended up needing new front bumpers and a lick of paint.

Strangely enough I ended up buying the yellow car and raced it up until mid last season. After the accident Mike Jordan`s Eurotech outfit rebuilt the car into a new shell at a cost of around £40k. The Jones brothers do know how to have a car built properly !! The accident actually meant that the car was one of the better 993 race cars around as it only did a couple of races after the accident before they moved on to a 996. It then led a fairly sheltered life until I put it back into service and pottered around in it.

The Jones brothers did FIA GT last year in their Preci Spark sponsored GT3R and this year both the Jone`s and Pete Chambers are back in action in the British GT championship in the hands of Eurotech.

So there you go - a bit of background. Both drivers walked away, no harm done. The roll cages that Eurotech used on the cars were quite unusual in their day.

Henry, thanx for the extra info. 'Post topic' is very informative sometimes.
