I sold my evo 8 around 6 months ago and need something to replace it now as I feel lost without a quick car in my life, would prefer a change to something rwd.

I am looking at a 2003 E55 in my budget, I am aware these cars will have issues due to the type of car they are. My next door neighbour owns a 2003 SL55 which I have had the pleasure of driving a couple of times and I have fallen in love with that torque and now need this in my life. His SL has had a few issues, mainly caused by the twin battery setup loads of warnings coming up has had both front sam modules replaced twice etc.

What I want to know is weather the E55 has more or less the same issues as the SL55?

If this is the case I think I can live with the little electrical niggles that the SL next door keeps suffering from, other than that it runs sweet mechanically. Either that or I cant find a fault due to my relative noobness to these cars.

This wont be my daily driver, more like semi daily driver. I say this as I drive a mk6 golf tdi daily and will continue doing so unless it is a nice dry day for this potenital E55 to come out. Don't intend on doing anymore than 6-8k at the very max miles per year.

My other concern is i'd like to keep this car for around a year possibly 18 months, how hard will it be to sell on? I work abroad a lot for months at a time and don't want to have to leave the car sitting for that long, especially after the horror stories iv heard about the air suspension problems with leaving the car sitting for a while.

Thanks in advance for any help folks.

Bump

I'm interested in this also.

Also, what is the service schedule/interval on these?

Cheers

Electric ,electrics, electrics, did I mention the dodgy electrics ? my 2003 has gone wrong 4 times in 2 weeks, could not even get in it last time. Mercedes are also be the most useless out fit you have ever dealt with, now they have the customer service half sorted out most people have started to realise that the reason it has always been so st is to hide the crap job the workshop normaly do.
