Was due to fly from London City to
Edinburgh on Thursday, but got the train instead.

It was quite pleasant and wasn't totally rammed. I would take the train all the time in that route, it just takes a bit too long.

Returning from Dubai to Birmingham Thursday, found out that flight was cancelled first thing in the morning.

I managed to get myself booked onto Dubai to Dusseldorf instead and made Eurostar reservation on the phone. Once in Germany Thursday night I took a train to Brussells. Got the Eurostar first thing Friday morning (which was packed) and finally arrived back at BHX (needed to pick car up from Airport car park) at about 1pm on Friday.

In retrospect I was really lucky to make the reservation and get on the Eurostar, now I read it is fully booked for the next few days.

I could have stayed in Dubai for the weekend and chilled by the pool but have a wedding to go to today.

All the extra arrangements (trains, hotel, Eurostar, extra day car parking at BHX) have probably cost £600 on top of the original trip cost. Still, fortunately for me it was a business trip and work were more concerned with me getting home than the costs.

Flew back from Budapest late Wednesday, lucky or unlucky? Ok I got back without delay but the flip side would have been a weeks expensed stay with little to do - was a work trip smile

I was flying from Riyadh to Washington DC via Amman, Jordan and Heathrow on Wednesday/Thursday. Had an 11 lay over in Amman on Wednesday night so got a hotel in the center of town for a few hours kip. Back to the Airport at 9am, check in (hell) and get to the departure lounge. Delay, bored, check Blackberry, BBC news.....oh crap. Too late to get anything else as it's now gone midday and all the direct flights to the USA have gone. Royal Jordanian stick us up in a local hotel at the airport and the waiting begins. Soon realise that the Friday looks no better so head back to the airport and book a flight from Jordan to Chicago and then back to Washington DC leaving Friday morning.
Friday morning, head to the airport early, just as well, it was chaos. Massive scrum for US check in, as usual the locals don't understand the concept of queueing but they do understand "get to the back you fking wker". Anyway, eventually get on the flight, 13 1/2 hours later arrive in Chicago then hang around for a few hours, flight to DC and Taxi to my bosses house, arrive midnight Friday EST. 3 days travel, now I can't sleep due to jetlag :-( on teh upside, I am typing this on my shiny new Mac Book Pro that was waiting for me :-)

2 sides of the coin for me.

On one side, my mum was supposed to have a hip replacement op today, but her surgeon is stuck in Italy.

On the brighter side, my FiL is stuck in Spain hehe

We left Heathrow bound for Istanbul on Thursday, and I believe we were the fifth-last plane to take off before they closed the place down. We're due to fly back on Monday - which is looking a little bit dodgy at the moment. On the upside however is that we're staying in the Four Seasons overlooking the Bosphorus until we can get home.

And I'm hoping to be at the Fenerbahce/Besiktas match tomorrow night too rotate

sister in law got marroed yesterday. Supposed to be flying to Singapore and Thailand tonight.

Managed to arrange second week in Hustings in Cornwall, but first week is a bit sparse at the moment!

Friend have offered to pay for three nights at the same hotel which is amazing, so at least a relaxed place to be.

Won a driving holiday to Morooco with Land Rover which should have been flying out today, and just had call that they've called off this trip and are rescheduling in May. We could have gone last week, and should have been flying back yesterday, apparently that group are likely to fly to Spain and then coach back to the UK ... yuk! Glad we're at least stuck in sunny aberdeenshire!!
