Hi,
Been lurking on here for ages and amazed by some of the photos on this forum, so thought I'd ask for some feed back on my first shots of some bikes at Thruxton, all hints, tips comments etc. welcome

IMHO Wide shots do nothing for me... Not just yours, in general with bikes.
Closeups are way more interesting, but then you have to invest in some long fast lens and get a photo pass to the track for a good shot. smile

The ones I've posted? No idea, they are from random internet sites, hence the watermarks.
I'm guessing something fast and expensive wink

Bikes can be tricky as they are fast and reasonably small to try and pick up.

Check this link for some inspiration.

Yes, they have good access and fast glass, but its surprising whats possible.

A selection from Brands & Thruxton BSB rounds and Valencia WSB (been a good few weeks for race meetings hehe )

All of the Brands and Valencia shots were taken with a 450d with a 70-200F4L non IS. The thruxton shots I'd added a 1.4 teleconverter, it's second time used in anger (the first being the day before at Snetterton for Britcar)

I'd love a longer faster lens, but there's a balance between being an enthusiastic spectator and being there to take photo's. I'd considered the 100-400L, but don't like the push/pull zoom and I think I'll wait for the rumoured replacement. WOuld love a 400 F2.8L . . But then I may as well be a pro and the spectating goes for a burton . . I think I'll upgrade to the 70-200 F2.8L IS so I'm not losing the speed with the 1.4 but still got some length when required. . .

Use of PS Elements 7 to crop overcomes the lack of length . . . to an extent.

You need to get closer, also they look a lot out of focus and colours are lacking.

You need to get closer and have tights crops (IMO) for bikes

Any excuse... Brands Hatch
