Guys,

The motherboard on my old Dell dies so I have retrieved all of the data from the old PC and pulled it over onto a hard drive on a spare PC (whihc already had a copy of Itunes on it and an older version - of my iTunes library)

I have gone into "Preferences" and changed the location of the iTunes library to the latest library I pulled over fromn the old PC.

Problem is it doesnt seem to be "seeing" the latest downloads unless I browse for them manually and then play them form the file source? Consequently I have hundereds of tracks I cant browse form the ItUnes library itself.

Secondly it hasnt pulled over any of the playlists or even categorised the music into "Purchased" folders or anything?

And I cant see any of the Apps we downloaded on ItUnes for the kids IPhones?

HELP!!!

Anyone know how I can get it back to the way it was?????

Thanks!

Anyone?

How about if I uninstall iTunes then reinstall?

..or how about if I somehow import the new iTunes library?

Have a look on the apple support site. nearest thing I can find would be this article... If you still have your old library file, you should be OK.

Maybe try

File > Add folder to library

and point it to the location of the stuff you are trying to add ?

I think this should be fixable smile

what he said ^^^^

The reason you can't see it is because you have not imported the music, just pointing itunes at the folder is not good enough, you have to import it.

Cheers guys - but won't re-importing it mean I end up with loads of duplicate files in the library??

Only if you have the copy files to itunes folder checked.

Import without it checked.

If you follow the how to from the apple support page, you will keep your playlists.

cheers guys - sorted it - but my own way!

here's what I did:

1) uninstalled iTunes from the PC

2) removed the iTunes folder from the "my Music" folder on my "C" drive (the default iTunes location)

3) re-installed a clean/empty version of iTunes

4) copied over my entire "newest" iTunes folder from the old PC that resides on the "E" drive - into the "c" drive

5) started iTunes

6) In the prefernces menu pointed the iTunes to the correct iTunes music folder

et voila!"

Congrats, (although that method is covered in one of my links earlier! wink)
