I know a lot of people from here drive over the Bealach to Applecross. I have just found out that the road will be closed for 8 weeks from "the end of August" for repair work. Access to Applecross will still be available via the coast road, but the loop will not be possible.

Is the road in need of repair? I'm planning a trip up and across there in early June, just wondered what the road surface condition is like, given the need to shut it for 8 weeks for repairs...

I know the coast road is still a great drive, but we'd rather go over the pass!

I drove over it yesterday... they did some resurfacing a while back, but it needs a proper job doing. It's fine to drive over.

Thanks, was asking more for a mate who's coming with us rather than my own car.

I drove over it yesterday also accompanied by several nice cars including a gallardo. The road is a bit uneven in patches but certainly not a problem for anything low. There are a lot lot worse 'road imperfections' in our cities especially Aberdeen. On aside the weather and scenery was stunning yesterday with a new dusting of snow on the surrounding mountains.

Good to get warning, cheers. Looking at getting over that way sometime over the summer!
