What happens when things reopen?

Got some friends stuck in L.A. They were due to fly out Thursday evening, arrive here Friday morning.

They were told to go back to the hotel, which they have done.. but what happens when things get moving again ? should they just turn up at the airport ? I'm trying to contact their airline (BA) but there is no-one there, if you don't opt for an automated service it just hangs up on you.

I've suggested they try and get to Southern Spain, but given there is 6 of them, one is pregnant and they have a 3 year old and 2 year old it may be best to see what arises over the next day or two.

My son has rebooked online twice and been to the airport each time to ensure he wasn't logged as simply not turning up. I think if you don't rebook they could try and suggest you have no case for delay accomodation and food??
