Had a great weekend in the Noble but after a drive on Sunday morning the exhuast started blowing.

I took it to a mechanic friend who had a look at it without carrying out any work on it.

He says its a small job, that being the gasket from the turbo outlet to the exhaust needs replacing.

Anyone know where i can get Noble parts from with ease.

(Wurty - if you read this, i cant remember who you told me to contact)

Any help/advice appreciated - Kev

From the wiki on Nobleparts
The Triangular Gaskets used on the 3ltr Exhaust part number is.

6646724 6 off approx £5.36ea

Exhaust Manifold/Head Gasket:

4503102 2 off approx £12.48ea

Exhaust and Manifold locking nuts.

3788881 10 off £0.50ea

Source Fordparts.co.uk

Nissan part numbers work.

Turbine inlet (all) 14415-17M00
Turbine outlet (T25 and T28) 14445-26E00
Turbine outlet (GT25, GT28) 14445-79E00

Not sure which ones you need but guess its the Turbine outlet one. Local good mechanic should be able to sort it otherwise Jetstream get my vote

Most of the Noble cognoscenti have thrown those gaskets away!
I doubt that the problem is a broken gasket. It's most likely that the blowing is due to the turbo to exhaust nuts working loose and this loosening is exacerbated by the gasket itself, for some curious mechanical reason which evades me. Best solution to stop the perennial problem of turbo to exhaust downpipe from blowing is to remove and throw away gaskets, replace any studs that come out with the nuts, and then replace the OEMs nuts with silver-plated K nuts. No gaskets required.

Yep -done in concert with Roush when I had the new exhaust fitted about 4 yrs ago. The silver-plated K nuts weren't cheap but that's what Roush/Mountune used on the WRC Ford rally cars (again with no gasket). If you track your car at all this is the only real solution - in normal road use the turbos/exhaust don't get as hot and so the nut-loosening is not so much of an issue.

Cheers Rob,

Im going to take this to get done - one last thing - the guy who is doing the work is asking if they HAVE to be silver plated - i will spend whatever needs spending, thats not an issue - but for some reason, the guy whos carrying out the work is saying to get titanium (or any high tenstile)

I will go off what you say...

Use Toyota M8 stud nuts from a Supra TT wink they are made of god knows what special stuff & they work brilliantly & have the flange that grips too. Best exhaust nuts ever. About 60p each from Mr T

Hi Kev - sorry can't really comment on titanium nuts. They certainly sound good (and expensive) but whether or not they do the trick I just don't know. AFAIK the silver-plated ones are used for their anti-galling and heat dispersal properties.

Thanks for all help and advice guys - did work this morning

Had a nightmare to start with - one of the studs snapped whilst taking off! had to bore it out and re-thread it! took 90 minutes!

Anyway - job got done - used a high tenstile material nuts and studs (the strongest available apparently)

Drove her home and she was running and sounding sweet

Had a few other things done too whilst stripped so touch-wood shes A1 now

Gonna have a full inspection before Cannonball run just to make sure - out of interest, who do people on here rate/trust for Noble specialist work? (im based in North West) Dont want to get ripped off or taken for a mug.

Again - thanks for help - really appreciate it - its good to know there are fellow Noble drivers out there to help each other out - if i can ever return the favour i will
