Had a headlight bulb dail last week on my phase II S60. Have read that they are a real pain to change - undo this, loosen that, remove the other etc, even to the extent of "First, remove front bumper cover.............".

So, trundled off to my local Volvo dealer. The deal was "Buy a bulb and we'll fit for free". Bought two, (one just gone after 3.5 years, how long 'til the other does likewise ?), and one of their techies changed both, in the car park, without removing anything in under 10 minutes. Hugely impressed by my local dealer here in Lincoln. O.K. I can buy bulbs cheaper in Halfords but could they fit them ? Guess I'll never know.

Anyone had similar, or worse, experiences ?

Yes, bulb failure on side that appeared to be accessible (just - other side involved removal of the air filter housing and numerous conectors - so definitely one for the mechanics).Bought the bulb in Halfords - £10.99; after 30 minutes of fiddling with mirrors, swearing, scraped knuckles, I had succeeded in disconnecting the bulb retaining clip altogether and scratched the replacement bulb to b***ery; couldn't see to reconnect bulb retainer; Popped in to Volvo garage on way to work - fitted new Volvo bulb in 5 minutes for £12.18 all-in. Will not be bothering with Halfords again.
