Hi all, wondering if you could help....

I am trying to put together a driving holiday for a stag-do next year (either in Europe or the USA) and I am looking for a driving tour kind of company (like http://www.petrolheadnirvana.com) but one that includes car hire.

Any ideas?

Details are as follows:
Maximum 12 people (6 cars ?)
Budget of £800 - £1000 each
All drivers are over 32 years of age

Can anyone recommend a reputable company that offers these kind of driving tour packages or has anyone been on a tour they can recommend?

Thanks in advance for your replies.

Not used an organised tour operator but have toured Europe, (in own car), and various areas of USA in hire cars. Pretty easy to arrange it yourself in USA. Hire cars are simple and you'll only need to arrange the first couple of nights hotels to keep Immigartion happy, (AFAIK). From there on hotels are signed at most freeway junctions and all the hotel chains are very happy to book ahead for you...............and you generally get a discounted loyalty rate. That way you can vary your route on a daily basis rather than having to meet someone else's criteria. Oh, and fuel is a LOT cheaper in the USA than anywhere in Europe. Think it's around USD2.75 per US Gallon in Texas. You will probably pay a hire premium to collect and drop at different points or you could aim to do a circular tour.

As a starter for 10 have a think about start & finish in Las Vegas. From there you can roam parts of California, Nevada and Arizona...............parts of old Route 66. Can recommend it. Even SWMBO loved driving a Dodge Durango monster.

Just a thought.

Hi Kul,

Just got your email with the full itinerary details for the trip, thanks.

We've already made a start on the enquiries for car hire and hotels and given the date of the trip, we'll be able to come up with some really great options and alternatives for you and your friends.

I'm sure you will be getting various quotes from the market for this (I hope so anyway!!) so look forward to sending you the quotes over and if you need any more info or have any questions in the meantime don't hesitate to give me a call in the office.

Thanks. Robin

That budget sounds low if you want car hire too, that's the kinda budget for using your own car.

Well I have faith in Robin from Petrolhead Nirvana. Their USA tour is only £1297 per person over 8 days and that includes Corvette or Mustang hire! My requested duration is only 5 days.

See for more information - http://www.petrolheadnirvana.com/tours/2010/usa_to...

Out of interest why are you hiring cars, for Europe at least?? In your budget you aren't going to get anything slightly exotic and it is just limiting what you can spend on hotels/tolls/fuel.

I have organised a couple of trips for myself and for a group of Brisky and it easy enough to plan your route and book hotels either online direct or with a freindly travel agent doing the leg work.

If you decide to go the Europe route make sure you are travelling on dates that don't clash with snow or cycle races.

This year I am expecting this trip to come in at under £1k for 1 person in a car, so a pair would get by on circa £1700 without any hardship
http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/158157-road-trip-...

Please note these prices include all expected food and petrol, everything, a tour will not include your fuel and tolls which is a major contributer to cost, especially in Europe.

What's not included?
Flights, fuel, meals, travel insurance

That lot will push it up a bit!
