Nifty Fifty

Now I'm no pro (far from it). I have a canon 450d with 50mm 1.8 lens + 2 more lenses, it simple terms can someone explain why I seem to get great results with the 50mm ie very clear very sharp shots . My other lenses are a canon 28-105 + a sigma 18-50f2.8. I mainly shoot action shots whilst out mountainbiking but that also includes the chance to get some scenics in too. My real question is , are there any other lenes that give that sort of performance in the 24mm area (can I point out I can't afford L stuff) Cheers I hope that sort of makes sense.

Worth checking out. I just got myself a 50mm 1.4 and I'm pleased with it.
