Bike pumps...

Looking to buy a bike pump, the large kind that you leave in the garage and clamp with your feet to use??
Seem to range from 20-50 pounds, are the more expensive sort worth double? Are thier any issues with the cheaper ones??
Boring I know, but would like to know before purchasing( probaly from wiggle.com unless someone knows of a better place!!)

I've got a SKS like this which is excellent

Whatever you buy get hold of some spare rubber washers as they have a nasty habit of becoming loose just after you've been to your LBS...

I got mine from Tesco, £6 and it's completely Ronseal.

I got the cheap plastic one from Halfrauds a few years ago and it's still going strong after loads of abuse!

it's the one i bought and i think it's good. seems robust and well made. none of that cheap plastic all metal!!

I have a pretty decent handheld pump which apparently went to 100psi - I plugged the Joe Blow in, and they were only running at 65!

I have a Bontrager something-or-other. Works fine but tbh I've not had any problems with previous pumps either.

I suspect you'd probably be as well off with a cheapy - particularly if you have a decent 'feel' for pressures and are not after the local "10" record.

I'm with Parrot of Doom - bought one on the spur of the moment from Tesco, and its great. A double headed inflation valve which means you can inflate both Presta and Schraeder valves without any fiddling about, and a pressure gauge that actually works, unlike the twin barrelled foot pump that I bought from a well-known out-of-town car accesories warehouse, which was set to self destruct immediately i binned the receipt. Only reason I can see for spending more is to prove the old adage about a fool and his money being easily parted....

...cue my trusty Tesco own-brand track pump exploding in my face next time I adjust my tyre pressure, thereby proving the old adage that you get what you pay for
