Renault dci ...
Discussion
My better half has a Y- Reg Renault Clio 1.5 dci with the glow plug light on constantly. One of the relay units for the glow plugs have been changed a year ago, and the fault code reset. When the light was reset and turned off the car started first time immediately and the garage could find no further fault. However the light has been on for months and every time the car is started from cold, it only ever fires at the third attempt. When hot or even warm it will be the first or second attempt. Does anyone have any advice , suggestions to help remedy this nigglying problem? Its a pain having to crank the engine three times to start it and cant be doing the battery or the starter any good either ??

There's a fuse for the Glow plugs in the under bonnet fuse box, 60 or 80Amp, can't remember which off the top of my head, would start there.
The earth strap to the engine tends to corrode, its under the near side at the front of the engine, give the contacts a good clean and put liberal amounts of petroleum jelly on, after you've reconnected it, to help prevent it getting worse.
When were the glow plugs last changed? at 9 years old there's a distinct possibility 1 or 2 have failed. they're about £7-8 each.
