Le Touquet - Le Blat
Discussion
Had a cracking day out on Saturday with a number of pals from the Southern Kit Car Club - we had a days blatting in France. Pulled up at Le Touquet on the way home for a quick stop and out of nowhere it was like a mini car show; within 10 mins there was about 30 people milling around and taking piccies. We had a great day - and will look to repeat the exercise later in the year (prob early Sept )
I wondered whether the PH masses would be interested in getting involved. No hard and fast plan at this stage, just a testing the water to see whether there would be enough folks ( seriously ) interested to make a bit of a spectacle. Rough idea would be to set a time to arrive at Le Touquet to meet up: either after having a few 'convoys' or simply by sharing a proposed route, or letting folks make their own route - but with the aim to all get there for a particular time ( lunchtime)
Given that many of us blat around Kent-Essex/Surrey/Sussex at every given opportunity catching the ferry or E/Tunnel and having an 'awayday' might make a bit of a change, and the French interest in the cars is refreshing. Bearing in mind that our 11 caused plenty of interest i wonder what getting a group of 40-50 would be like!
As i said at the top of the post, at this stage its a testing the water job, if enough folks are interested would gladly put something together or work with one or 2 of the 'established' or known organisers on here....

Cool
Seeing the thread title with "Le Blatt" brought some distant memories flooding right back from about 5 odd years ago when a group of about 7 of us (all Phers) from the (modestly titled) 'A23 Blatters' had a 'Le Blatt' day out to France. Unfortunately we took 3.5 hours for lunch and when we went to find this tiny little racetrack somewhere in that region that <Towman> knew it was nearly closed but still the owners let us nail our cars round for a few laps until it shut. Corking. There's some footage and pics somewhere I'll dig out and a decent route somewhere. I'll see if I can tap up whoever I can remember went and we can probably get a good 8-10 names down pdq. There must be a thread on PH somewhere from then, I'll go have a search.
<Towman> A cranky, sweary and probably also still a banned PHer. Nice bloke, easily riled.

Were you a group of 4? 3 Caterhams and a Elise as I was with another PHer on our way to Reim and had a 10 minute convoy with them?I wondered whether the PH masses would be interested in getting involved. Ah interesting. Seems like you had fun.
My dad was saying i should get a group from PH to go all the way to central France where his house is. He said the back roads were brilliant and he just sat doing about 90mph without another car in sight!
Big house in France-check.
Nice roads-check.
= one big Hoon-check.

I know the Surrey lot used to do a Champagne run. I'd be interested in joining but it'd have to be a weekend.
Hi .Mark, hope you are well. We're still doing the the Le Surrey Runs, this year is LSR8 "May the Fort be worth you!" a Star Wars themed run as we're staying at the largest fort in the whole of europe. Every year during the first weekend of September a very large number of TVRs descend on France. Every year it gets bigger and bigger! The biggest convoy so far has been 44! The Cerb has a French map permanently in the car just in case ;0) The Le Surrey Run 6 visited the Normandy beaches, Honfleur and Le Touquet so this one day blat sounds like a blast. Have fun whenever you decide to go!

Thanks Mark. All is good in sunny Surrey. Steve and I just got voted RO's of the Year at the AGM last weekend so a lovely surprise that turned out to be. It's our monthly meet tonight at The Black Swan in Ockham so we're going to make the most of the sun. I'll be keeping an eye on this thread as this could be something to consider as part of our September run.

Fubar - thx for reminding me about Brighton - that woild have been a schoolboy error!
So will start to work on a plan for the 4th Sept.
Mrs T - looks like you folks have a cracking time on Le Jaunt.
If any of the usual suspects who are well versed in arranging the PH runs read this - do please give me a shout, would like to do a spot of brain picking!
thx Mark G
