e30 325i ecu and radiator compatibility.

hi! new member,but not new to this great site,31.5 year firefighter, ex motor mechanic,retired recently from strathclyde fire service, port glasgow white watch and joined rds duty system with them, so more time to keep my e30 325i beemer tidier,it,s pre facelift chromie,very restored both bodily and mechanically,my question for al the other,petrol heads out there is this, firstly, my motronic ecu, is 0261 200 073 early motronic,10 i think, can i swap this troublesome unit, with another plug nplay ecu, maybe a 081 one,it has to have a 35 pin connector, the 173 one has unfortunately a 55 pin plug,i believe it,s motronic 1,3,my upgraded mapping chip has 24 pins,so it would be good to plug n play it too! my second question is, can i change my radiator from the one with both top and bottom hose outlets on the lefy,to the later one,with diagonally opposite outlets,ie top left and bottom right,without changing the water pump? any info greatly appreciated,mechanics don,t know it all best respect,tommy. ps car registerd 4/9/87 reg e123 cns

Going from motronic 1.0 to 1.3 is do-able but theres a few other bits you have to change to match, i'm not really an expert on the subject though to be honest! I know a couple of chaps have done it over on e30zone.co.uk though. Its supposed to make a nice difference to how the car runs in general.
