Hi

My M5 E39 has a Nokia 3110 built in as part of the comms pack. I have tried a couple of sim cards but it keeps saying that they are rejected.

Any ideas? Is it locked or knackered? I have tried the Nokia site but the 3110 phones look nothing like the one I have, where they special ones for BMW/Cars?

- not 100% sure, but I believe standard phone fit for a car the age of yours was Motorola, rather than Nokia: specifically the V50 or V3690 clam shell design. So, chances are yours has had a retrofit kit (the Motorola is crap anyway, so that's a good thing!) It certainly sounds locked to me, from experiences elsewhere: this might help? http://www.gsmliberty.net/shop/nokia_unlock.php
The only thing to watch is that the 'phone doesn't drain the battery whilst it's charging, if you leave it hooked up: the Motorolas are programmed so they don't, provided they have the BMW settings built in - the Nokia's an unknown quantity.

Thanks for that. It was an option when the car was new so should have been standard.

I have tried the unlock procedure but its saying it was not restricted. Very strange.

Ah, fair enough - sounds knacked, then.
