Considering a van or box trailer.......
Discussion
Over the next 6 months or so I am going to need a decent sized van or enclosed trailer a few times to move furniture and house contents on a 700 mile round trip & building materials, rubbish etc on short runs.
I can either hire a VW Caravalle/ Transit sized van or box trailer for the long runs and use the old Volvo Estate for the shorter smaller stuff or go out and buy a similar but cheap van or box trailer and then sell it on in 6 or 9 months time.
Van hire for a few days at a time adds up quickly, if I buy a van what sort of mpg and insurance costs (age 57, clean licence etc) am I looking at (assume commercial vehicles are more expensive for some reason). Thinking about £1000 budget so not expecting anything pretty but it would need to be reliable for the long haul stuff. Alternative is a big box trailer and tow it with the ol' Volvo.
Need a load bed size around 2.5m x 1.5m to 1.8m minimum.
Any thoughts, should I just hire?
