...Hi!...I have owned FPN 11L for over three years now & have had quite a bit of work done on it in that time...I'd be more than happy to send you a few recent photos of it too if you want...I'm in North Yorkshire near to York at present & have driven less than a thousand miles since I bought it...Regards...Graham.

Hi All,

Just a quick observation between the 2 pics that have been posted up, the red car has the side vents and only a small lip/wheel arch over the rear wheels. The green car has no vents and has a widebody type shell fitted to it judging by the flared arches over the rear wheels.

Brilliant looking classic car, hope it's still with us for many years to come.

Cheers

Hi

The red 1600M series was bought by myself in the summer of 1978. I probably bought it from your dad (in Bracknell I think) for £1250. The day after I bought it it wouldn't start! I had a vinyl roof put on to cover up the crazing and had it resprayed in VW Gold with a brown model band. I had it for around a year and sold it to a girl who owned a fish and chip restaurant in Bridlington for around£1600. The car was kit-built and the factory informed me that it was either the first one sold or the last (I can't remember which) but it wasn't registered in order. Originally the car had been Triumph Saffron yellow. It looks to me that the only original part is likely to be the chassis!

Shortly after I bought it I drove to Devon in pouring rain and when we arrived I had to borrow an electric drill to make a hole through the passenger side footwell to let about three inches of water drain out - simple pleasures in those days.

regards
