Hi all.
Very specific problem here. I get a hard vibration through the front wheels peaking between 60-65 mph. All ok at lower speeds and seems to sort itself above. Garage has checked it out, wheels are aligned, suspension ok (no pot hole knocks), they think it's the tyres. Is this likely, any other ideas?

It's an E46 330 tourer.
Thanks

Try swapping the fronts to the back or see if the garage have any spare wheels that can be tried.

60-65mph is usually indicative of a wheel balance problem. If the garage can't get rid of it by balancing the wheels then it may well be the tyres as the garage sugest.

Or buckled wheel - check it is running true on a ramp. A tiny bit of run out will cause issues at specific speeds. My E46 318 tourer had a strange vibration narrowed down to this.

If it only happens at certain speeds, then it's probably this.

Try driving at multiples of 60mph and see if the problem recurrs at 120mph and 180mph and report your findings.

Assuming it hasn't got replica rims with the wrong hub centres, its a balancing issue.

Unbalanced/bent wheel perhaps exacerbated by soft control arms bushes...
