Pub recommendations... York, nr Uni

Got a professional weekend school commencing from Thurs at York Uni, and will need some evening diversions. I think there are some bars on/near campus but any local recommendations? Decent beer and atmosphere please...

Try goodramgate, you have the white swan down there and the habit (both good for bands) theres a newish bar called koko which is quite nice. Not far from there you have a slug and lettuce, a bar called kennedys and a nice place called oscars. depends on what youre into really...

I'm at uni in York, if fit 20 year old girls are your thing, go to The Courtyard on campus - it's the SU. All the students will be back at the weekend after the Easter holidays.

What sort of pubs/bars do you like? There's The Charles and The Deramore in Heslington, next to the uni, other than that you're best off going into town, can get the FTR Bus (number 4) there and back.
