I am in the market for a used XJR, & saw one advertised on here locally, not quite the spec I wanted but worth a look. Or so I thought! Business was a small sales pitch with a busy garage operating together. As I was in the office asking to view the service history, the missing salesman turned up, so I asked him to talk me round the vehicle. To which he threw me the keys & said "help yourself". Mind you, he would have had trouble showing me round a car that was completely hemmed in by other vehicles, just enough on one side to open drivers door, & not enough room to get to front, rear & near side close enough to examine. Turns out the "full service history" was a book of stamps, with no paperwork/receipts. He had no idea if the well known tensioner problem had been rectified, & quite honestly couldn't give a stuff about selling the car. His attire matched his attitude, & quite frankly I wouldn't have bought the car if he had offered it to me for pennies.
How on earth do these business's manage to exist, & why do they bother if that is the best they can muster?

alot of people think the dealer is doing them a favour by selling the car.

and others just don't seems to appreciate the volumes a salesperson's attitude says about the business they work for.

I had that one today, was looking at a vRS and he was quite happy to take me out but didn't bother to talk to me much. Had to sell the car to myself!
