Hello all,

I've recently come into possession of a 350i and am looking to sell it. It's in a pretty rough state having been left out in the weather for some years. It's been started pretty regularly but not been driven. It would probably need a respray, new hood and new interior. I believe it's done around 70k miles. I was wondering if anyone could give me a ball park figure for it's value?

Maybe less than £1000 if the chassis is shot, as it is not going to be a cheap re-build by any stretch of the imagination. frown

Yep the chassis is going to need the bulk of the work which is going to be costly everything else is relatively straight forward if you can do it your self depending on course what else needs doing.

Not wanting to hasten the departure of any more wedges but, in addition to the chassis work, a decent respray is going to set you back £1,500 - £2,000, a full retrim will be c£1,000 and a new hood will be £500 at least. Given that the best 350i will only make £5-6k it's not looking promising if you're going to be logical about it. Having said that, if we were being sensible we'd all be driving Toyota Corolla'ssmile

I've no reason to think the chassis is in need of any TLC. I'll jump underneath in the next few days to confirm however. I'll also try and get some pictures up as I realise it's a bit like asking 'how long is a piece of string'. Pictures say a thousand words eh ;-)
Thanks for all your responses by the way, they're much appreciated.

Right, I finally got around to taking some photos.

I've had some interest from people who'd like to use it for racing but in all honesty I'd rather it go to someone looking to restore it.

One for Comadis I think!!!

The paintwork doesn't look too bad actually. You might get away with the bootlid re-laquering.

Usual pebble-dashing of the front - get the bumper and spoiler resprayed.

Like the garden in the footwell.

So it's down to the bits you didn't photograph - underneath!

Everything is straight forward provided that you have somewhere to work and the funds to make it happen. I've wasted time and money restoring my car outside and I'm still not happy.....

And all for the price of a car cover....20 or 30 quid turning into 2 or 3,000. frown

Shame.

All my Wedges have been covered, even in the garage and already sold.

Hi Raj.

I think I got it from Argos...had it 6 years now.

RAC brand if I remember correctly, outdoor type, cost about 40 quid.
Nothing flash, but does the job and fits the Wedges nicely.

Seems like the car has been 'stored' on that surface.

You should never park a car over anything but sealed concrete or tarmac for any length of time, as the damp rising up from mother earth will cause rampant oxidisation.

Sadly, it looks like a scrapper to me. frown
