Currently getting mine from a place that apparently I "Should've gone to".

Obviously not, I'm sick of jumping through the various hoops they provide for me like some sort of fking myopic fking dolpin

(Had eye test a month ago, they phone me up saying they're withholding my lenses due to me not attending my eye test, I go and pick them up, get a reminder through the door about my eye test next day, they refuse to give me the right prescription when it gets adjusted after an eye test, fking sick of them!)

Any opticians with good customer service?

I use Shopping4net. I choose the lens strength and type. Works well enough.

Although popular, soft lenses aren't the only option. Why don't you investigate rigid gas permeable ones?

Less chance of infection, a one off fee, better vision correction, last for years if properly cared for and your eyesight doesn't change.

OK, they're damned uncomfortable for the first week or so, but after that, you don't know you're wearing them.

Vision Express are pretty good, and the monthly dd includes eye tests, free replacements etc if anything happens. Made up with the Acuvue Oasys I'm currently wearing, but am looking a swapping to the similar lens but for a stigmatism which should be the same but better.

I've had bad experiences with B**** and S********** and wouldn't use them again. S********** mis-cut my prescription glasses which lead to a month or so of the worst intense headaches I've ever experienced and B**** were just st!

Yep, S********* are absolutely abysmal, they've given me 3 months of 2.25 when I'm a 2.50.

"Oh, that doesn't matter, it's not much of an increase anyway"

"THEN WHY THE fk IS MY VISION SLIGHTLY MORE BLURRY IN THAT EYE THEN YOU USELESS , DO YOUR fkING JOB"

As 1990's and unfashionable as it sounds, I still go to Boots Opticians, which is where my mum took me as a kid.
Never had a problem, they're constantly saying "oh, we don't need to charge you this time", quick at getting new glasses etc, and they're always all smiles.

I use these people too, and just for the same reason as the OP, Should have gone to....they wanted me to have "the" test, even though i had just had my eyes given a good going over for a pair of glasses.
"oh but its a different test sir", yeah right. Maybe some differences but if my eyes were unheathy it would have been spotted.

www.contactlenses.co.uk

I only use them now and then though and just get the occasional pair of coloured prescription lenses.

Same here, no problems to report at all.

Getting lenses from an optician is a pain in the rectum, I cant remember which one I got my script from, but they kept insisting I got back for check ups, and re-tests every few months (at my cost obviously) otherwise they wouldnt continue selling me contacts.

Binned them off and order from the Internet instead.

I go back once every couple of years, just pick any old random highstreet optitian just go get my prescription checked.

Was with Specspaccers but they royally pissed me off when I went to Bristol for a weekend, forgot my lenses and both branches there refused to give me any on an emergency basis even though I had my prescription with me, and they could see my details on their system, no explanation, just a flat no.

Switched to Costco and very happy, cheaper and I can turn up and buy them as and when I like.

Vision Direct for me, order in 6 month batches and they're pretty decent with stock/turnaround. Pricing seems to be fair, not the cheapest but they do free delivery

Sounds good, I might switch to online instead.

If I wanted to change from Monthlies to Dailies, would I be best off going to an Optician? Or just choose a daily?

Get the prescription from the Optician and get them online.

When I switched to contact lenses, the test was just a check of my eyes on 1 machine, and then a chat as to which contacts are better & how to fit / wash them, I thought that was better than going online with no explanation, plus this was completely free with a weeks worth of contacts & solution to see if they're for me or not.

Don't think anyone is suggesting you buy online if switching to lenses, as it would probably be better for suitablitly/size/type etc to be checked, however once all that has been no arm in re-ordering from an online supplier.

I have occasional wear of only one Daily disposable lense(sport/nights out etc) it doesn't warrant me being on a plan with an optician as I don't buy enough. If I need a replacement box of 30, I can get it sent pretty much next day. If I go through my optician they take longer and cost about twice as much (and they also insist in selling them in pairs ie 2 boxes)
