iPhone Unlock help needed please!
Discussion
Right, bear with me, this is complicated!
I've left O2.
I've moved to Vodafone.
Vodafone have given me a SIM only deal which allows me to pop their SIM in my O2 iPhone and use it for a lot less than if I bought new iPhone from Vodafone.
O2 have to allow you to unlock the iPhone so no problems there. I thought.
So, I bought into Vodafone and went home to unlock my iPhone on the O2 website. I followed the procedures and was told it can take up to 14 days FFS!!!!
Unfortunately for me, 3 days later (today), my number has ported across and my O2 contract has been terminated.
As a result, I'm not sure O2 will be able to unlock the iPhone as I'm no longer 'with' them so can't receive the text unlock info (or can I?).
So, how can I get my iPhone unlocked immediately? Can I get this done at an Apple store as O2 are clearly not going to help now I'm no longer a punter...
Thanks in advance!
Of course O2 can send you a text - your number is still the same as it was 5 minutes ago!
You should've asked how long the procedure takes, before setting the PAC in motion, but as you haven't, then your only recourse is to contact O2, explain the situation, and have them push forward your request.
That or buy a cheap 'dfr' phone to make do with until the iPhone is unlocked.

The unlock process is not handled or in O2's hands - the unlocks are controlled by Apple whom they submit the requests to.You should've asked how long the procedure takes, before setting the PAC in motion, but as you haven't, then your only recourse is to contact O2, explain the situation, and have them push forward your request.

It took about 7 days for it to happen for me, and I had to ensure I had > £15 credit on the sim card to ensure it went through.
In that case, Apple would be the best company to call, to see what way things now lie.
If this was a contract phone though, surely the charge is levied on the bill, rather than credit on a PAYG account?
In which case, there should be a final bill sent out, which will include this charge, I'd have thought.

O2 say that the unlocking of the Iphone which was a contract phone is free.

Your iPhone can be unlocked at anytime free of charge. If you unlock your handset and place a non-O2 sim into it, you will still have to honour the remainder of the minimum term on your contract.
