Hi

I posted a couple of comments as last year i though Admiral were quite reasonable - just had my remewal through and for the same cars, a Boxster 3.2s and 320d touring and an old saab 93 shed we were paying circa £800 which was pretty reasonable - they want £1800 this year!!!!! Have full no claims bonus but I did have an unfortunate bumper incident with a badger in my 3series resulting in an £800 claim (but there's not alot you can do with Kamikaze badgers!)

Just got some Seperate car insurance quotes and managed to insure all 3 again for around the same £800 mark as last year - so Admiral, having left good feedback about last year and the way you dealt with my claim this year - you're taking the p*ss with £1000 over anyone else to renew !

Rant over! :-)

Has anyone else's insurance shot up this year due to the market, claim, etc?

Try running a fresh Admiral Multicar quote....bet it'll come out cheaper than the renewal was...happened to me last year with no changes at all to the policy...ran fresh quote and low and behold cheaper, they of course didn't say sorry for their 'error'

I suspect many insurance companies hope you'll just accept your renewal and not check it or shop around redface

car insurance has gone through the roof this year regardless of circumstances. Refer to the hundreds of similar threads venting outrage.

I tried a Multicar last month, the quote was nowhere near combined cost of two separate quotes. I'm guessing I'm out of their "target market"

We've got three cars on a multi-car policy. Collectively we've saved about £150 on the cheapest seperate quotes.

We'll see what renewal is like...

I was outraged when mine went up from £319 to £288. Proper raging.

Sorry for the delay in replying to my own topic!

Yes a fresh Admiral quote works out closer to last years prices and nowhere near their renewal... go figure!

Ironically the most competitive quote was from Diamond who are part of Admiral - which all leaves me to think what a load of b*ll*x they are probably just trying it on to see if i'd pay the extra

See my thread about Elephant , renewal suddenly 15% higher than those offered on comparison sites and they are trying to add a mystery £19 onto last year's premium after I've paid for it !

Edit - Just got an admiral quote online, same details as Elephant, £226 compared to £249 (plus mystery £19) from Elephant.

I managed to knock mine down a bit this year.

But not much thanks to the man that used "the wrong type of ladder", or "the woman that fell over on the wet floor"

Money had to come from somewhere. Where there is blaim, your insurance premiums will rise.

With Admiral, aged 21, 2yrs NCB, mk4 Golf GTI, 12k annual mileage

Last years quote £660ish
This years renewal wanted £550ish
Quote off elephant which they then matched £390

Sorted!

Still don't understand how a company can send a renewal out at £1800, quote substantially less for two separate cars as their sister company and come in cheaper on-line using all the same details for multi-car than their own multi-car renewal - i'd like to say it was a mistake but personally i think many other industries would get reported to the OFT for that

it looks like this year my wife will be the main policy holder instead of me ...

... cant wait until they ask which insurance company can verify the no claims discount!

Ive had two seperate cars insured with Admiral, both on seperate policies.

31y/o 8Years NCB, Good area, 1 Alpina D3, 1 Cayman S

Seperately around 900ish each. Thought, hang on, lets try a multicar policy - £2200??

So did the Cayman on its own, gone up from 900ish to 1300ish

No claims, no nothing.

Its bol*x

How do you do a fresh quote if you are already insured with them? I tried on line, and it knows you are an existing customer

I was the main policy holder last year - i simply did the quote starting with my wifes details - quote dropped from £1800 to £800 using all the same details - utter shambles really!!

nice cars btw - my quote was for insuring a 2005 boxster S and a 2009 320d - that came out at either £800 or £1800 depending on who's name you type in first ;-)

Doesnt the policy holder have to be the registered keeper?

Having being picked up on the grammatical innacuracy contextual description of a rear wheel drive Dolomite Sprint, is a rediculous quote worse than a ridiculous quote - or are they both expensive?

Anyway, my multi-vehicle policy experience is that an existing customer is assumed to be a cash cow, primed for milking and shopping around or re-applying saves most...
