Has anyone every had a rogue direct debit appear of their account for the above.

Just noticed today that they had set one up on my account. Phoned the bank who have cancelled but asked my to contact talk talk details as:

Talk Talk 07717 221 578 reference T......

I phoned and they have no account details for me and bounced around from pillar to post eventually got cut off.

Somewhat worried as they can setup a direct debit again at anytime.

Not a DD problem, but I've found Talk Talk's attitude to customer service to be beyond belief. Signed up to them back in November for their landline and broadband package and four months on, was still waiting for the broadband. Months of frustration, being passed from pillar to post, with nobody appearing to know what the hell was going on, or give a toss. Finally got through to a very rare type of Talk Talk employee, who not only had a decent command of the English language, but also the brain power to look into the problem. Apparently they have a technical fault with their broadband service, thousands of people are currently affected and they had no idea when this would be remedied. I promptly went to Orange, who got me online in 4 days. Stuff Talk Talk!

They must be utilising the staff from the aquisition of Tiscali who were equally as poor when I was with them a over a year ago. Absolutely clueless.

If you've not signed up to talktalk, then cancel the DD. You'll be covered by the DD guarantee, and be able to make an indemnity claim if any money has been taken. Check with your OH that she hasn't signed you up without telling you though wink

In cases like this, there are two rules:
  • Don't phone, write.
  • Make it their problem.
After all the calls needed, writing would be cheaper, faster and clearer. You then need to make it their problem - in this case that would be:
  • There is no DD, there is no authority for a DD, do not even think of using the DD. I have no contract with you.
  • If you do, I will have your arse on a plate.
  • I want chapter and verse on what has happened, what you are going to do about it, and how you are going to prevent it ever happening again.
  • Your reply will be in 14 days (in some caases you can make that by return), before i proceed with formla complaints through the relevant bodies.
Nine times out of ten you will get a rapid response closing the whole thing down. And have it in writing.

We've just switched our land line and broadband from Talk Talk.

Totally useless, kept getting unauthorised direct debits taken whenever for no reason, and account details kept being altered into someone elses name (my partners ex). They also decided they wanted and extra £30 per month for remote area charges to maintain the line, though these charges had never been applied before and the house hadn't suddenly moved location.

We had it all changed back and a security code put on the account but they still failed to ask for any of the security codes when we called so we've cancelled it all and gone else where.

As soon as they effected the take over of Tiscali I switched. They're an utter shower of s.

Even though I'd only just cancelled I still got bombarded with evening phone calls from telesales kids who couldn't believe I wouldn't give them custum because of their reputation for being wkers of the highest order.

I wouldn't piss on them if they were on fire.

Problem we're having now is our phone line has been switched over from Talk Talk to our new provider (we've also had a new number to stop unwanted calls).

The MAC code Talk Talk have issued to transfer the broadband over is incorrect, and despite several calls to get a new MAC code or the correct one we have got absolutely no where.

We're now waiting for the department that issue the MAC codes to email it over as evidently we're unable to speak to them direct. This I am told could take 3 - 5 days for them to do. In the meantime our new provider cannot transfer the broadband over without it.

Talk Talk are that hopeless that according to them last night, we still had them as our provider despite the fact the old phone number no longer exists. And then tried to re-sell us another contract.

Got a letter advising that I could save £42 a year with a Direct Debit on the account. I used to be a Tiscali customer who were taken over by them and they migrated all accounts over active and redundant i.e. my two year old one

Called them and got an email confirming the following and they will also put it in writing in form of a letter
