6 PHP Developers needed - 6 Month Contract in Manchester

Hi chaps,

I am in need of 6 PHP Developers to work in Manchester for a 6 month contract,

In terms of technologies used - PHP is obviously the main one along with HTML, CSS, Ajax, Javascript and MySQL.

Day rates are negotiable and obviously dependent on experience.

We need one senior guy, I would expect this to be between £250 and £350 a day and 5 mid level guys, I would expect these to pay £150 - £250 +/- £30-£50.

The figures quoted are purely ballpark, to give you an idea we currently have a candidate who is being considered at £500/day (albeit for the senior role) so there is no real "set in stone" brackets as such!

Is this some IT specific thing, or are you saying a range, then +/- from the top and bottom of the range?

Contractors will understand what he means. Including whether it appears "underpaid" and whether it's worth punting your CV across with a "but my minimum will have to be x because I'm worth it." or somesuch.

Well, as an overpaid contractor myself I'd counter with:

No job security anywhere at the moment, perm or contract.
Sorting out own accounts can easily cost less that £1k per year especially outside of London
Pension is a fair point but what, 5% of perm salary?
Private Health insurance isn't that common a perk.
Public Liability/Indemnity insurace is circa £400 per year
Need to move location is not that common with contracting and probably similarly likely as a permie (similar, not the same)

So. I know that my contract rate is circa 50% more than an equivalent permie rate. This difference FAR exceeds the cost of the points covered above.

Also the real possibility that you'll work for six months then spend six months unpaid looking for the next role..
