Need Career change help!

Question,
How does someone with no qualifications, no experience, quite a bit of debt and no possibility to enter full time education get into the automotive engineering industry???
I currently work in a large organisation with great career prospects and was recently promoted but have no interest in the work I do and want to live my dream of working with cars. I’m 22 so still young but feel like if I don’t do something soon I’ll end up doing a job just for the money (which is not what I want). Yes I’d like to earn a decent wage but imho it doesn’t matter what industry your in, there is always potential to earn good money.
I would happily to undertake part time evening education but every degree/diploma seems to need the applicant working within an engineering environment (which I don’t do). And I cant afford to drop to an apprentices wages!
Has any one got any ideas or is in a similar situation??? What can I do? Do all engineering qualifications require work placed learning???
Cheers for any help in advance

Have you looked into the costs of funding the evening course yourself? Not too expensive although not great when you are in debt, it will however get you the qualifications you need to get where you want to go.
Unfortunately, this then leaves you at a similar point in that you have qualifications but no experiences. This may not be a problem for some employers and i hope not but what i can advise is to keep chasing the dream and make things happen even if it means initially dipping into your own pocket.
What engineering were you thinking of as the car industry has loads of careers within, what is your current job?

thanks for the reply. I'm quite interested in the designing and developing of engines. I'm currently a buyer which is a completely different role!
Do you know of any part time courses??? I cant seem to find any!
Cheers
That's a very specialised field, and you will need a good engineering degree and maybe a masters degree in a systems subject as well.Do you know of any part time courses??? I cant seem to find any!

You could look at the OU but that's maybe years and years of study, part time.

Well you'd better join the queue, I'm just finishing 6 years of engineering studying and the chance of me getting into that is pretty slim so as blunt as it sounds I'm afraid you'd better keep it as a dream.Cheers
