Myself and my boyfriend (20 and 28) would love to go abroad this summer, but with me being a Uni student, it needs to be a pretty low budget when it comes to holidays.

We'd love to go anywhere outside the UK if possible for some decent hot weather. We aren't into all this clubbing and tacky rubbish, much prefer somewhere scenic or cultural, both if possible, my boyfriend loves the outdoors. We would be happy with a lazy beach holiday, so long as there was something interesting to do as well as that.

I'd LOVE to go to Lake Garda in Italy but it looks quite expensive and getting around might be tricky unless we hired a car (more expense... how much would you expect to pay for a decent smallish car for two or three days?)

Does anyone have any suggestions as to where would be an easy but enjoyable holiday destination, whether it be region, particular area, or even a specific accomodation?

Cheers

Malta/Gozo, some amazing historical sites there, some nice beaches, guaranteed weather, reasonably cheap last time I was there - and they speak English biggrin

I did Bergamo, Milan and Como and then back to Begamo with my g/friend in Jan this year. 4 days, 4 different hotels, starting in the mountains then in Bergamo itself and then train to Milan stay the night wander round, then train to lake Como and then back to Bergamo the following day, quite good fun wandering around and working out getting from A-B and taking evrything in along the way

getting around is prety easy on the train and not too expensive.

Ryanair flights were pretty cheap, had a quick look and there's some of there as low as £3 outbound (eg bristol to bergamo) and around £15 inbound.

Sign up for a prepay mastercard to get around their card charges and just don't check anything in if you can travel light.

Hotels is just a matter of your budget and checking around on the net for some good deals, I booked all mine through Expedia and seemed to not pay much more than around £50 - £60 a night, and pushed the boat out a bit with a nice lake view hotel in Como. Took a lot of reading around to get it all sorted but def worth it, check out tripadvisor for loads of info

So in summary, go for it!

Sharm is really popular this summer as it represents excellent value for money:- You can do a 4 Star All Inclusive for a week from about £380.00. All Inclusive option is good as you know exactly what money you need.
If you want something a bit more off the beaten track there are some excellent deals around for Crete, stay away from the town!
