If you get a decent pillow top, they are freakin sweet. You just have to pay a little bit for a decent one. I wouldn't bother with any of the memory foam stuff either.

I've found a comfortable pillow-top bed, but I'm wondering how the p/t will wear over time. Seems like it could wear out before the mattress..

On the other hand, if I buy a "normal" bed, and put a memory foam topper over the top, it could give me a similar feel of a p/t?, but I'd then be able to replace the topper if/when needed..

Is that the topper thing I mentioned?

Well, the memory foam ones do the same thing. They go on top of your matress, but they really are utter pap when compared. Look at the good hotels, they all use goose feather filled pillow tops, and not the crappy sweat sponges that are the memory foam stuff. Go feather pillow top squire, you will not regret it.
