Video: Bentley Mulsanne Heads For Final Assembly
Bentley guides us through the final part of the build process of its new mega-saloon
It's always fascinating to see how a new car is put together - and even more so when that car is as opulent as the new Bentley Mulsanne. Which is why Bentley's latest promo vid for the new car, documenting its gestation before the car goes into full production this summer, is such a pleasant way to spend 5m 34s.
This latest clip documents the work of the 98-strong team of specialists who bring together the painted body, hand-crafted leather hides and wood veneers, the 6.75-litre V8 engine and electrical components.
We particularly like the Open University documentary-style 1980s synth background music, and the way the presenter coyly describes the final assembly line workers as 'build associates'...

It does indeed look a fantastic car in the making, perhaps even epic.
I'm still not convinced by the front of the car, i would still invest in one of these (if i won the lottery).

One of the nicest cars I ever had the good fortune to go on a photo shoot for (and to date the only Bentley I've spent significant time in).I'm still not convinced by the front of the car, i would still invest in one of these (if i won the lottery).

Worth significantly more than my flat, but a wonderful, wonderful sense of occasion

Anyone catch the Lamborghini Megafactories programme on Saturday?
It showed the build of a Murcielago. Fairly impressive.
All on Sky+It showed the build of a Murcielago. Fairly impressive.
So far they have all been really good in their own ways!
This video for the Bentley feels very much like the one for Rolls Royce that was on the other night, unsurprisingly

Could watch this stuff all day!
Sorry, personal bugbear of mine and I don't want to slag anyone off, but...
We have a premium product here, so would a HD (or better quality at least) video be too much to ask for? Its quite frustrating to not see the bits of detail that distinguish this from many other cars.
The previous vid (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JIlsyVBnfVw&feature=channel) was much better - so perhaps Youtube is still processing then...???
Dont get put off by the 'building associate' crap. I had a tour of the factory last year and was DEEPLY impressed.
The place is immaculate and the cars are truly hand built. It takes one person 37 hours to hand stitch the interior. In 2010, this is nonsense, but you have got to love it.
