E46 M3 FAULT CODE WITH VANOS ?????

Can someone please help with this engine management light comes on, when connected it registers fault code 185 vanos outlet camshaft control bank 1, any ideas on how to cure?? , vanos not noisy and car performs as it should .......thanks

it's likely it is due to the vanos o-rings, which mean the oil pressure used to move the cams about isn't doing it's job properly.

My vanos failed and it wasn't making any noises. We think it was just the solenoid block but I bought and exchange unit from BMW UK as when you buy a solenoid block you can not later buy just he top half, only the complete unit. It wasn't worth taking the risk so I bit the bullet and bought the complete unit.

I have a BMW GT1 and kept on resetting my adaptions and clearing the fault, it eventually got worse and worse i.e. more frequent. I got 83,000kms out of mine.
