Any particular products that are good for this? Got loads of them on the A6 and they look terrible on an otherwise spotless exterior.

How's the best way to get rid?

'Autosmart Tardis' is the best product I've used for this.

You can get it from eBay for a few quid smile

WD40 is not bad, but remember to wash the car afterwards, and Klasse AIO (All in One) polish and sealant is a great tar remover too.

I find the pre paint panel wipe ( de greaser ) from a body shop is good, just be sure to was the car afterwards

Clay bar* removes it too, saving having to buy additional chemicals.
Just be sure to use plenty of lube.


  • Not the lightweight ones like Meguiar's, Sonus green, but the more aggressive but still benign Bilt Hamber original. Soft may also do it as well, but is tacky in warmer weather, so plenty of water on your hand is needed there too.
