Having been without a TVR for over 18 months and been through Saabs, a BMW Z3 MCoupe and now an Audi S6, im just about ready to have another one.

The sun perhap? I don't know. Not the best time of year to purchase either but ive never been good at being sensible.

Im after either a good Cerbera or Chimaera. Budget is £8k....hahaha you say. Well i still think it's doable. Oh did I mention I dont want a 4.0l chimp or the AJP6 Cerb!!! yep been there done that (with the chimaera).

Not sure a good V8 cerb can be had for £8K? That would take a look of searching out ? And to find one where someone wants a swap.... You will probably have more luck with Chims. Chims and Cerbs are total different animals (except for some similiar bodywork lines).

I reckoon if you got a V8 Cerb for £8k you'd be spending the same keeping it on the road. You could get a decent Chim for that though.

There are a few nice Chims for that money but I doubt you'll get more than a 400 engine unless you are lucky. If you do get lucky and get a bigger engine, for that kind of money I would have thought the car would need some TLC (£) to bring it back to good condition. Values of these cars have pretty much stabilised now. I bought my 450 for £10k around 4 years ago and the values don't appear to have changed at all really. so it's possible, but unlikely I would think that you'll get a decent 4.5 or 500 Chim for the money, and certainly not a Cerb.

This looks cheap - perhaps too cheap. It's a bit risky too, having been stood for 2 years, it looks quite stone chipped but it is nearly in budget and it is a 4.5 AJP8......

Love the way in an ebay ad for a £9k Cerb that's been stood for two years the dealer says 'Total peace of mind' at the bottom. Not the words that would spring to my mind!

I know exactly what you mean - I think lack of use is generally the enemy of TVRs - and lots of other cars but I thought I it was a PHer's duty to draw it to the attention of the OP - albeit with a big health warning.

As an aside, I believe most of the engine problems associated with the V8 Cerbs relate to the 4.2s rather than the 4.5s. Am I right?

I've had 3 x 4.5s. Rebuilt / reworked all 3 ! But I'm fussy.
