Are they what their sponsors tell them to say or what they actually have/use?

Most drivers will have written into their contracts that they MUST drive a manufacturers car during the season and will have cars supplied at each track. Most drivers don't drive on the roads during GP weekends, they have team people who drive for them, but when off duty I am sure they drive a variety of things.

The NASCAR boys have way more exciting toys!!! Drivers planes is a better topic.

The majority of them will be freebies or 'company cars' I suspect, which is why all the Ferrari boys are in Fezza/Masers, the McLaren and Merc boys are in AMG stuff, and the Renault lads are in, well, Renaults!

Gutted, what a hard life! Here you are Fernando, your new contract. However, I'm sorry but you HAVE to drive a 458 Italia during the season.

How they cope with such restrictions cloud9

Two of his cars for 4WD. I wonder why... wink

Vettel has a KTM X-Bow, and I recall Alonso driving a sporty version of a Megane some years back. Doesn't Button have a Honda NSX?

Both of the Ferrari drivers drive Fiat cars at Grand Prix weekends and usually drive Fiats when at PR events too. The McLaren drivers won't be in new McLaren cars because of the Mercedes Benz engine deal.

They are all the "publically told" cars though that their management has answered.

Many of the drivers will have supercars of some sort in their garage. JB's Veyron, for example.
