Morning All,

My father is looking at an 04 SL500 as a second car but is getting some of what I think are quite insurance quotes (£600 plus), he's a youthful 60 odd and after 3-5000 miles of cover.

Who do you guys insure with?!

Cheers

Jason

Well, he's only gone and bought it, obviously made a condition of his will that I inherit should the worst happen... It's a stunning 32k mile pano roof £80k new monster, can't wait to have a little potter round in it!

I think it should compliment the Z4 Coupe, Caterham and 944 nicely redface)

Any more companies he should try for insurance, he's going to call Hagerty on monday so thank you for that nod!

I've used Bell Insurance since getting my R129 SL500 and they cost me about £400 fully comp inc business use, certainly the cheapest I've found. They are part of the Admiral group, who actually quoted me a few quid less last year but as they were the same group they matched it, which was handy for the convenience. Worth a try.

Adrian Flux for me - quite a bit less than your dad is paying and I'm 20 years younger. Unlimited mileage too.

I think it is worth also trying Direct Line who have always seemed to give me reasonable quotes - eg I insure my 07 911 c2s 10,000 miles pa for less than the £600 your Dad has been quoted for his SL and pay about £300 for my ML270 & c£250 for the old CE230.
