This nice weather has got me thinking about classic convertables. Nothing wrong with the modern ones but driving down a nice country road with the top down in an old car just seems a perfect setting to me.

If you had a maximum of 10k, what would you choose?

For some additional fun, a money no object choice too smile

I'd go for:

Probably a Lotus Elan for me, although an old Boat-tail spider does appeal too.

MGA maybe - I like the sort of 'baby XK120' looks...

Money no object - it would have to be an early E-Type

There was a classic Alfa spider outside my house yesterday evening. Very early one, was very nice.

Up to £10k - Griffith. Best looks you can buy for £10k, and a V8.

Silly money? Not the Ferrari California, actually. Gorgeous, but not "different" enough.

Assuming I had something half sensible in the garage for rainy days and town driving, something like this. Because it;s completely brilliant (Duesenberg Speedster)

If money is no object, then it's got to be:

I'd be tempted by this as I've always loved them and they're rare and this one hasn't been horribly chavved which is unusual (and it just about qualifies as a convertible?)

But really I'd go for this:

I saw a immaculate E320 (W124) Convertible Sportline this morning..OK, so only 15 years old but sooo much prettier that everything newer surrounding it.

Must have been a 'summer only' car as it was mint..
