Hello all,

I'm looking for info on some late UK-only 944 S2 labeled "SE".
I am wondering if these cars really existed/exist since I haven't heard anyone but Peter Morgan mention them ...

Thanks in advance.

I've heard of those - I think they were a special version of the last few S2s with a chip upgrade, increasing power to about 225BHP. I wonder if you can still get the chip?
The Turbo SE was the 250BHP version of the standard Turbo with 220BHP.

I saw one at the large PCGB event last year. It had some options inclduign (I think) air con and leather and (I know) a bridge spoiler).

I did indeed have an uprated chip. Not sure if these are still available...

Yes they do exist, I have seen a couple now and know a little bit about them after another 944 owner spoke to Steve Kevlin at a PCGB trackday. Steve worked for Porsche UK in 1991/2 when they were sold.

Basically the story is that the 968 was already being sold but they still had stock of some (14 I think) S2's at Reading. They got an uprated chip from a third party (possibly Superchips?) that increased the power to 225 bhp. They had a special badge made for the rear that says S2 SE in the Porsche script and then they gave all the cars all the options they could think of - leather, aircon, bridge spoiler, 3 spoke RS steering wheel etc.

Finally they raided the parts bin and gave them all a special suspension with rear coilovers. They were not M030 but a one off, so I dread to think what the owners will do when they wear out

No torsion bars then ?

He specifically said that the torsion bars were left on, just used a coilover shock to make the rear stiffer.

The shock mount is not sufficiently strong to support the rear of the car without modification apparently.

Some of them (all? ) had large SE stickers on the side, I saw a black one for Sale near Yeovil a while back,
